Hey folks--

I owe a catch up note on the status, but I hear the Sloop's trying to
take her own cover off right now . Before it rips apart completely,
I want to take it off while have good weather tomorrow (Saturday).
Anyone free late morning/early afternoon?

The season is still up in the air. I need either a partner/partners,
or pledged preseason, season and post season labor and $ support, or
both if the boat is to go in the water this year. I did pay the
mooring fee, and I have until May 15th to have refunded in it's
entirety. I figure by May 15th I'll know if I've had preseason help
, and/or a partner, and/or other financial help, and/or decent job
options to afford a boat on my own. If not, I'll get the mooring fee
back and the boat won't go in the water.

Last year I figured it out (I guess it never mattered before) that it
costs about $75 - $100 every time I take the boat out (less the more
it gets taken out). I have other sailing options on friends' boats,
so the main reason I guess I still have a boat is to be able to take
friends and students and people who want to go sailing out on a boat,
and I can't afford that alone anymore.

So . . . if anyone knows someone with 1) sailing experience (enough
to take out a boat on their own without me (and without me worrying
about it!)), 2) an interest in racing, mechanical skills and an
interest in actually getting hands dirty working on the boat in the
pre- and post-season, and a pool of friends willing and able to help
maintain and crew the boat, let me know. The arrangement I have had
has been a fraction of expenses (usually divided equally among
partners) in exchange for use of the boat, not actually buying into
the boat. If you want to know numbers, contact me. I'm also
considering posting on craigslist.

Also if anyone who has sailed in the past or wants to sail in the
future and is in a position to help with sailing expenses, as several
people have graciously done mostly below the radar in the past, let
me know. Any help is appreciated.

I hope the season works out since for the most part the only time I
see many of you is on the boat in the summer! I'll keep you posted.
