[Sloop Scoop 2006] #6, September 14--27

We got in a couple of weekday evening sails, including a stunning full moon 
sail last Thursday night.  I let go of the tiller and the Sloop sailed 
herself most of the evening along the moonglade: first east then west then 
east then west.  It was one of the nights you have a sailboat for.

We only got in one sail over the Labor Day weekend, and it too was pretty 
perfect.  Monday's winds and waves were sailable but the "chance of 
waterspouts" spooked me to cancel, especially after doing NOAAs hazardours 
weather online review course on waterspouts.

It's hard to remember those perfect days amidst this block of nor'easters, 
thunderstorms, and gray, soaking rains.  Hopefully this evening and this 
weekend we can remember that summer happened and that fall is a beautiful 
season.

As I get towards the end of the season I do less planning and more jumping 
on opportunity.  I'll schedule a few sails, but let me know if you are one 
of those people who can go sailing with only a few hours notice and you may 
end up on one of our impromptu sails.

The tentative plan is to drop the mast on the weekend of October 7/8, so 
there's not much sailing time left.  The fall light and sunsets are 
phenomenal.  It's really one of my favorite times to sail.  So grab a 
jacket and some long pants and join us soon.
